The legislation surrounding the international transport of goods and people is very strict and regulated. In order for everything to go as planned and as quickly as possible, many professions must be coordinated, some of which you have probably never heard of. 

In this article, we are going to see 3 professions related to the import and export of goods, as well as the transport of people. 

Litigator

The litigator is the first job we are going to introduce and which I am sure you have never heard of. A litigator is a person who works in a transport company or a freight forwarder and who is in contact with customers and insurance companies. His/her role is to collect and record the grievances and complaints of dissatisfied customers or passengers, as well as the circumstances in which the incidents or malfunctions took place. He is also in charge of negotiating and dealing with the best interests of the company and the customers in case of disputes, in order to find fair and advantageous compromises for both parties. In his work, it is the litigator who conducts the negotiations and takes care of the compensation of the clients when necessary. He must also identify the possible recourses available to the company to enable it to win these disputes.

Transport lawyer

This is the profession you are most likely to know in this list for the simple reason that there are lawyers specialized in every conceivable field. Just like a lawyer specialized in international law or taxation, a transport lawyer brings a view and an expertise on a situation related to the transportation of people or goods. He is in charge of verifying, for his clients, the conformity of their legal documents, as well as their actions, in order to prevent them from any legal proceedings or inappropriate litigation. A transport lawyer can be commissioned to calculate the administrative costs related to the transport of a cargo (taxes, customs duties, requests for passage, etc.), as this represents a significant part of the total cost of a cargo.

Charterer

This is the last job on our list and, like the first one, I doubt that many of you have ever met a person working as a shipper. A charterer is a person working in a transport and logistics company, whose job is to manage the transport of goods from a point A to a point B for a customer, ensuring a delivery respecting the deadlines that the customer imposes, while finding the best value for money. He will compare dozens of means of transport, routes and itineraries to find the most optimal from a temporary and financial point of view. To do this, he must be able to negotiate with subcontractors of different nationalities (in the case of international transport) and have sufficient knowledge of the law in force in these different countries to draw up contracts that protect both his company and his client. It is also the charterer's role to ensure that the operations run smoothly and to report to his client on the routing of his goods. 

We are now done with this small list. There are hundreds of jobs that are unknown to the general public, and if you look hard enough, you will always find a sector where the demand for employment is greater than the supply, and where you can make a good living.
